The Trump administration donates millions of masks to transportation industry workers during COVID-19 pandemic in order to establish a safe working environment for workers.

The U.S. Department of Transportation is planning to distribute over 15 million masks and face coverings of which 2.1 million will go directly to highway transportation drivers. All masks are secured by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). USDOT also reports that all masks will be delivered via U.S Postal Services in starting from this and coming weeks.

“Transportation workers are on the frontlines of keeping our transportation systems operational during this public health emergency and their wellbeing and safety is paramount,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.

The Federal Motor Carrier and Safety Agency (FMCSA) and USDOT initiated the distribution of more than 1 million masks to transportation workers during the late April and early May.
