What is FMCSA Crash Preventability Program?
It is a DOT program specially designed for Motor Carriers to secure fair evaluation of their performance.
All crashes where the company drivers are involved affect the Company's Safety scores (BASIC), which causes several problems like higher insurance rates and/or difficulties in getting loads.
The above-mentioned program allows Motor Carriers to review their accidents for the subject of preventability through DataQ system. And if the accident is found to be unpreventable by the Company, it will be removed from BASICs, which means it will not affect Company's Performance rates.
If you have any accidents happened in or after October 2019, you have a chance to question them for the matter of preventability.
